Am 18. Juni 2007 beginnt die Uni. Vorbei mit Reisen, der Ernst des Lebens beginnt. Für die ersten beiden Wochen trifft es das sogar recht gut: Man möchte ja möglichst spannende Kurse finden, wofür ich mir eben möglichst viele anschauen muss. Alright, here’s some news, finally. I am, in fact, still alive. Uni has started last week so that may serve as an excuse for not writing. Even more so, we enjoy the company of our first Couchsurfers. Just before leaving for the South I changed my address and am now receiving requests every day!

Von Aut erfahre ich, dass in Ban Suan Ton aktuell 2 Apartments frei sind, eines davon recht weit vorn und mit ac und in gutem Zustand. Wäre natürlich schon sehr schick, gleich am ersten Tag ne Wohnung zu finden. Der Vermieter hatte dann auch am selben Tag Zeit (was in Thailand allerdings nicht sooo ungewöhnlich ist).

Den Vormittag habe ich mit einer ersten Entdeckungstour verbracht. Taxi zur nächsten U-Bahn Station, dann bis zum Lumphini Park. Mir war irgendwie schon klar, dass mich die Stadt so oder so erschlagen würde, read on | mehr lesen

Hey everyone,

now this is just to let you know this blog is gonna be filled with news and pictures again! I am spending my exchange semester in Bangkok, Thailand! Actually, I’m already there, have found an apartment and am now traveling until about Wednesday next week. I still want to change some things around here so expect some real news in about a week. This includes pictures, lots of text (believe it or not, my notebook is filling up!) and other interesting stuff for people who care about me :o)

Kurzfassung in Deutsch, muss auch sein: Mir gehts gut, bin seit einer Woche in Thailand, hab Apartment gefunden und bin jetzt gerade in Sukhothai, morgen gehts dann weiter Richtung Norden. Mitte naechster Woche will ich wieder in Bangkok eintrudeln und Jonas in Empfang nehmen …

Dann gibts auch Fotos (hier leider nur Netcafe mit Win98 -> ohne USB) und wirkliche News … mir steht gerade nicht der Sinn nach viel Schreiben, zumal das hier mal ein Raum ohne a/c ist und dementsprechend heiss!

People usually ask when I tell them about Banja Luka. So now that I’m almost back to Germany here’s a bit more detail about my city.

Banja Luka is the capital of the Republic of Srpska, which covers 49% of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The remaining 51% are called the Federation and are comprised of 10 (?) Kantons with either a muslim or a catholic (=Croatian) majority. So there is a government (ministers, parliament and all the rest) for both RS (Република Српска) and the Federation as well as all the Kantons. Also there is one for all of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of course. Which amounts to quite a number of people working on some kind of government job.
